25 Positive Affirmations Tiny Terrors

Positive affirmations are highly beneficial for all children, regardless of their age or mental health needs. Most children will experience dips in self-esteem and confidence as they grow. Changes like going to a new school, moving house and changes in family circumstances can affect a child’s self-esteem and confidence.

We want children to be proud of their achievements; admit mistakes and learn from them; try new things and be comfortable making friends. Having a positive mindset will not only help them learn in school but help them grow into happier young people.

Luckily, science has shown us that we have an extremely powerful strategy at our fingertips to help not only decrease negative thinking but to promote better mental health, higher confidence, resilience, and healthy self-esteem.

So what is this wonderfully powerful strategy called? Positive affirmations.

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…”

How to use positive affirmations

Positive affirmations for kids are a powerful tool to help children develop a mindset of positivity and success.

Here’s how to use positive affirmations:

  1. Pop the affirmations on post-it notes and stick on your fridge. This will encourage your child to look at them regularly.
  2. Leave notes in their lunch box with positive affirmations.
  3. Journal affirmations and do the same yourself.
  4. Take out 5 minutes every day to sit together and repeat these affirmations (see below video)
  5. Remind your child of these affirmations in relevant situations so that they pick up the habit of practicing them.
